Brigid

History.

May originally have been Brigid, the Irish goddess of poetry and fire.

She is a Tutath Denon, daughter of Dagda, who made the Cauldron of Pliny and is connected to Ludd and a lot of Irish folklore.

Goddess of healing and childbirth.

I mean, she's got a lot on her plate.

Like, let's not, let's not like make judgments on her.

So the concept of a morning and a wake comes from Brigid because her son died in battle against the Fomor and she instituted the first wake and morning and stated, you gotta drink.

Due to secretionism, Bridget became Saint Brigette or Saint Bridget.

Cernunnos, a horned god with antlers that was interpreted as a god of fertility, but it is unsure.

Or Brigid and Belenus, healing deities.

But this pantheon is very mysterious.

It seems there were big differences in this pantheon, or at least the names of the deities, depending on the regions, so it is hard to tell which gods or goddesses really mattered the most.

Mm.

I mean, you think of Brigit, Brigid, Brigid, um, the healer, poet, smith of the forge.

The Morrigu, who's sovereignty, omens, prophecy, um, fate even.

Um, the Dagda, hospitality, magic, kingship, um, community.

And again, like I say, I'm at the beginning of my journey.

Mm.

You know, Brigit came calling a couple of years ago, and stands alongside Ceridwen, who's always been there.

And when I started doing this, [laughs] I got caught up, and I've always av- again, like I say, I've always avoided a lot of the Irish myths.

That's a great question.

So Brigid really called to me.

First of all, she's part of my Irish Celtic heritage.

But her story captured my imagination because she was a pre-Christian goddess.

So in Ireland, she was the goddess of the sun and fire.

Any instance of fire is all Brigid.

She's got us a lot of things.

But then when the Ireland became Christian, she just became a saint.

And of course, shamanic journeying, connecting with our roots and our ancestral lineage, definitely connects us with the earth element.

Water is the fluid in our body and also of our womb, the primordial ocean of gestation that holds both the cosmic and ancestral memory, making it the vessel of feeling, fluidity, intuition, feminine wisdom and our feminine magic, as it is linked with the golden light of feminine magic found in the ancient wells that nourish, the world tree Yggdrasil, which represents our body and of course waters such as sacred springs, wells and rivers are revered as living oracles and sacred portals to the goddess.

Goddess archetypes for the water element are the ancient witch of your bloodline, the Norse goddess Aran and her nine daughters who are all mermaids, Aphrodite, and also the Norn of the past, Urd, who's the caretaker of the Well of Urd, plus the Celtic goddess Caridwen, with her cauldron of healing, transformation, magic and rebirth.

As the water element is linked with our emotions and intuition, we can feel how this is out of balance when we suppress our emotions or go into a freeze response.

So everything becomes frozen.

When you breathe in divine inspiration, so you're breathing in oxygen, filling your lungs and therefore your blood with this divine life force, a life force that is then carried to the whole body through the blood circulation.

Air also carries the vibration of sound, the frequency that brings the divine into matter as mantras and prayers and words, and they are like sacred spells, energetic keys, that begin to weave the divine into the web of life.

Goddess archetypes that hold the medicine of air is goddess night, who births the light of new life from the dark night sky, And the spirit weavers, who are weaving new inspiration into form, so weaving spirit into matter.

But then once the thing is done, he goes back to the workshop because he is creation for creation's sake.

So he is a different type of crafting god than, you know, say, Brigid in the Celtic pantheon.

She's also a creatrix.

She is a metalsmith and a worker of crafts.
