Welcome back to Stack Your Points. In this episode, Lani, RJ, and Matt dig into viewer questions, loyalty program drama, card devaluations, point-buying temptation, and whether the “perfect” credit…
Do you think the banks will eventually pivot towards dropping all of the transfer partners and forcing us to use the points on their portals? What would you do if, if, if that were to happen? Um, RJ, you are the most portal resistant of the crew.
So I don't think that the majority of the major players are ever going to go 100% portal on me.
And I think you can pry AA out of Cities Cold Dead hands after how long it took them to land them.
So I don't necessarily think it's going to completely go away.
I could see it being
reduced.
I could see it being a couple of hotels and maybe a couple of airlines, like a handful of transfer partners.
Everybody else is through the portal.
Like we're getting to the point where I can see that being a thing.
I can also see like I understand that some people like to do, you know, I can book this way through that and, you know, do an end around to this third airline and that's fine.
I have no problem with people doing that.
I think that a lot of what the banks and these companies don't want is what those people are doing.
And I think that they're more willing to put a stop to it by simply making it so you don't have transferable points from your credit cards, unless you have a co-brand card.
So I can see some changes.
I can see it basically culling to a small handful and then going from there.
But if you completely get rid of transfer partners, a lot of what has been pitched for the last decade falls apart.
