Behold how good and how pleasant it is for us to dwell together in unity.
Let us pray.
Thank you for the faces that we know and love, the greetings as we came in, seeing those that we have prayed for all week, and the joy of being back in this place with them.
But we know that you have called us to love those who are unfamiliar to us as well, those who act differently than us, those who think differently theologically or politically, and it doesn't always feel quite as warm.
We confess that we have been too rushed to care, too tired to bother, too eager to be better than others, too quick to act from motives other than love.
We ask your forgiveness for our failure to feel the sufferings of others and our desire to live comfortably above all else.
You call us to imagine and believe that another world is possible and that we have a part to play in it.
And so we pray that you would make us your light for those whose world is covered in darkness, that you would use us to feed the hungry, clothe those who need clothes, and give a cup of water to the thirsty.
Awaken our lives to you, Lord, to your love and to your kingdom.
We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, in whom we have one faith, one baptism.
Amen.
