Good Friday

Okay.

If you go from the day Jesus is dead on the cross on April 3rd, Good Friday, it's this Friday, October 30th, which is the 17th on the Julian calendar and eighth month, eighth day on the Enoch calendar.

Remember, the Good Friday, Deanna, was two things.

The Good Friday was Good Friday.

Good for who? Good Friday for the Jews, because they were celebrating, the Pharisees at least, because Jesus was dead on the cross.

And it was terrible.

For the apostles, they were freaked out.

They were hiding because they thought they were next.

And I shouldn't say the opposite because I'm kind of, I'm just trying to give you an analogy.

The importance of Good Friday.

The importance for believers to celebrate Resurrection Sunday.

Because without the Resurrection, without Good Friday, there's no Christianity.

Without Halloween, there's no devil.

You know, and then the day after.

I haven't really looked at our part of it.

Obviously, Good Friday's locked in.

That's number one on the agenda, I suppose.

We got some good standalone Saturday night games, which you were saying off air that you think they're all standalone.

Let's just talk about prime time.

I got really disappointed that we didn't get any.

I mean, Good Friday's fantastic, and it's the right time slot because it's about the kids.

Yep.

And then obviously round two, that's the marquee game every single year.

So that's quite a, I mean, easy start against Richmond.

The traditional Good Friday prayer for the conversion of the Jews.

Let us pray also for the faithless Jews, that Almighty God may remove the veil from their hearts, so that they too may acknowledge Jesus Christ our Lord, Almighty and eternal God, who does not exclude from thy mercy even Jewish faithlessness.

Hear our prayers, which we offer for the blindness of that people, that acknowledging the light of thy truth, which is Christ, they may be delivered from their darkness.

The visiting preacher who was staying at a preacher's house just down the street from Pastor Huffman was handling a special revival meeting that weekend at the tabernacle.

In fact, Huffman's name was never mentioned in the many ads and articles on Christian services Red Star offered around Good Friday and Easter 1941.

So Huffman clearly had some free time on his hands at Passover Easter weekend.

waiting far more religious and financial duties to come his way.

It's no longer there.

The factory had no weekend evening shift to let out, not on a holiday.

For most Christians, Good Friday had passed, and the various holiday Sunday activities were another night away.

Nearly everybody in town was enjoying a quiet, peaceful night.

A man who had helped save so many Jews during World War II, he made a number of sympathetic outreaches to various Jewish men and women.

And in fact, it is John XXIII who removed the prayer for the conversion of the Jews inside the Good Friday liturgy.

And he apologized for persistent anti-Semitism in the life of the church through the centuries.

And most famously, of course, and you know this part of the story, and I think it's important to tell a full story of a pope who was only pope for a few years because that impact and that legacy, John XXIII calls for the council.

I did it because of me.

who I was, so they put me in a mental health hold for 72 hours, and the doctor came to me, now it was over Easter, so it was good, it was Holy Thursday that I went in there, and Good Friday, Saturday, and on Easter Sunday, my son and his wife came to see me, and nobody, I mean, you're talking the mental health hold at Denver Health, nobody's coming to see people, you know, they're just there, and I got a visitor, and my son and his wife came in, and she was pregnant, And I remember thinking what I'd done to them, not only the way I'd been living, but my cram baby was there with her mom, in her mom, and I tried to take myself out.

You know, it just felt so...

But I couldn't see anything good out of it.
