How beat up are you willing to let a card be just to get it into your collection? When does owning the card become more important than its condition? And how much confidence should collectors really…
Yeah.
So, uh, I don't have the money to buy a big card right now.
I'm a little, taking a little break from buying big cards.
But I was looking at a card on Collector Investor Auctions that I really, I really want the card itself.
And if you wanna share the screen, Jeremy.
Uh, and you know, I, I look through a lot of ...
I get, you know, a, a lot of alerts for cards, and this card here is one that I want.
And I was looking at it, and this one's really badly beat up.
And I had to ask myself, "How badly do I want this card?" This is a 1 to $2,000 card in a PSA 1.5, and an SGC one is probably a $1,000 card normally.
But where it's so badly beat up, it's gonna go for much cheaper.
It ends tomorrow night.
It's currently at, you know, 400-ish dollars with buyer's premium.
How badly do I want this card? And so I ask you guys, what condition would you accept an expensive card in if it got the card itself into your collection?
I mean, I'm trending in the direction of being perfectly willing to accept a beater, as we say here, a Beater Joe card, and this would qualify as a Beater Joe card.
Um, and I'm trending in the direction of, uh, you know, being a little less willing to accept a, a Beater Joe card.
Um, I think the, the, the, the phrase, uh, the moniker that's now being bandied about is Rodeo Joe.
I can appreciate, though, this particular issue is not easy to find whatsoever if you look at the pop counts.
And so, um, just getting it into the collection, it might depend on how important owning this card is, the own appeal is, versus, you know, waiting for the right one.
Because, um, like you said, Mike, it's, it's, it's gonna cost you a pretty penny if you want a good, good eye appeal, good presentation on this one.
Yeah.
Agreed.
Yeah.
