You've spent your career helping people and companies manage and improve the quality of their data.

And I just wanted to ask you, as we get started, what got you interested in working with data as your career?

Yeah, I mean, that's a good question.

I was trained as a statistician.

My first job was at Bell Labs, right? One of the things that I was able to do was pull on some threads in things that interested me.

And one of them turned out to be this thing called data quality.

And so in the late 80s and early 90s, we set up a little lab.

It's a group of guys to explore data quality.

And I feel so lucky to have gotten into it, first of all, so early and with Bell Labs and AT&T, which was really exploring and pushing the envelope at things.

And I mean, it's just turned out to be this fascinating career, like with gross problems.

By that, I mean large and ugly.

And then real subtleties like what is data? What is information? How are they different? Does it matter kind of thing?

That's a while.

And to work at Bell Labs, which had such history and reputation.
