Uh, there is one specific thing I wanna ask you about off the bat because it is a recent trend that is happening at college and university graduations.
So what is happening is that y- commencement speakers are coming, um, in front of the entire class.
A class that's about to graduate into, like, a terrible job market, largely in part thanks to AI, or seemingly in thanks to AI.
Uh, and then getting, getting up in front of them and just y- like, waxing poetic about the brilliance of AI, but they can't even, like, mention the word without getting these, like, overwhelming boos.
Al- [booing] [laughs] Whoa.
AI is rewriting production as we sit here.
Deal with it.
Like I said, it's a tool.
[booing]
The question is whether you will help shape artificial intelligence.
[cheering] We do not know-
And I think what is weird for me, I don't know if you were facing up against anything similar when you graduated, but when I graduated school, it was 2015, and all of the commencement speakers and, and sort of messages for the, the graduates was, like, [laughs] re- weird jokes about how, like, "Get off Facebook.
In my day..." Like, "Go poke someone in real life." Like, really dated stuff like that.
And I remember even at that time being like, this feels really cringey and also, like, shortsighted because, like, would guarantee, especially in my sort of class of English majors, almost all of us certainly went on to work in social media in some way.
And so it's so interesting that the opposite thing is kind of happening now, and that, like, we're watching these people, these adults come on and talk about how amazing AI will be, and it's the younger people this time who are like, "Absolutely not."
