I love that quote because he's saying if you can't explain it simply, it's not a problem with the listener.

He points the mirror back at himself essentially in the quote or back at the person trying to do the educating and saying you don't understand it well enough because you can't explain it simply.

I noticed this when I'm trying to explain something to Connie that I haven't really researched a ton, right? But we're, you know, we're guys, right, Kevin? So like we try to, we put on a facade that we kind of know a little bit about everything in the world.

And I try to start giving it, but then I'm like, okay, I actually don't know this as well as I should.

So then you end up... meandering your story and your point doesn't land quite as well.

And like, all right, maybe I need to go back to the drawing board before I try to convince someone of this opinion or of this, of this topic, you know? Well,
But I think the word simply in here is, you know, that's what we call the show Simply Financial, right? We want to break it down.
but we're talking about financial concepts you need to break them down you need to keep them simple you need to have them understandable you need the education in there and i think that's one of the things that we do very very well here when people come in because i hear it over and over and over for the first time i finally get it how the plan works how you're producing the income you know how you know certain investments work how certain things do don't work because we can point out into your plan you know if it works or it doesn't work for you and i think by breaking it down to that level where and i think people can tell when you come in i'm very confident because i've been doing this so long that and i can translate it well enough because i've been doing it well enough that i very rarely get questions others or i mean statements other than you know for the first time i really really understand and it starts with know just breaking things down easily you know you communicate effectively finding out what their needs are and what their wants are and what their life events are going to be and then just putting that plan around it and breaking it down so everybody can understand i always tell everybody i'm not the smartest guy in the room we just need to you know reverse engineer what you're trying to do basically and fill in the blanks and then show you how it's done and then we all do that and that's a simplicity plan that we talk about each and every week and then we find your shortfalls and we point it out we show you how to solve Those shortfalls, and I think that's another big difference, Walter, is we don't assume anymore.
