AI search has created new anxiety for law firms. Everyone wants to know: How do we rank in ChatGPT? What schema should we add? Which tactic are we missing?
The frustrating answer is that there is no clean, fixed AI ranking report. In this episode, I talk with Lindsey Busfield, vice president and partner at Optimize My Firm, about what law firms can control instead.
**Her advice is refreshingly unsexy: create useful content for actual human beings.**
That means answering the questions prospective clients really ask. Can you help me? What might my case be worth? How much will this cost? Do you offer a free consultation? If your content covers the topic thoroughly and naturally, it is more likely to serve both traditional search and AI-driven answers.
But your website is only part of the picture. Lindsey recommends building a broader digital footprint through reviews, accurate directory profiles, podcasts, YouTube videos, LinkedIn thought leadership, and authentic participation on platforms such as Reddit. You do not need to master every platform. You do need to show up credibly where your audience spends time.
The conversation gets a little meta, because podcasts themselves can be part of the strategy. Even a modestly heard episode creates durable content, demonstrates expertise, introduces you to new audiences, and may earn a relevant backlink from a guest or host.
The takeaway is simple: stop hunting for an AI-search loophole. Build an online presence that makes your firm easy to understand, trust, and recommend. You may not be able to measure every AI answer perfectly, but you can make your firm far more eligible to appear in one.
Listen or watch the full conversation for Lindsey’s practical take on content, reviews, directories, Reddit, podcasting, and the marketing habits that still matter.
