Kayleen Marie Ohling was born on August 6th, 1999 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and grew up in communities just north of the city, including West Deer and Shaler Township.

She had six siblings, and according to her obituary, Kayleen cared for her younger siblings and cousins as if they were her own children.

Her family wrote that if you needed her, she would stay awake all night just to make sure you were okay.

She was just as happy getting her nails done as she was getting her hands dirty working on cars with her dad.

She'd grown up catching grasshoppers, fishing, and spending time outdoors, but she also loved practicing cosmetology on her younger sisters and even dreamt of becoming a nail technician.

Her obituary also notes that even as a child, she never let wearing a dress stop her from climbing trees.

Kayleen was also sworn in as a junior firefighter, and her family remembered her as a firecracker who was outspoken, independent, and fiercely protective of the people she loved.

By the time she was 20, Kayleen was primarily living with her father, Jason Oling, and her stepmother, Robin, in Wilmington Township, about 60 miles from Pittsburgh.

She still spent a lot of time closer to the city with her mother, Tiffany Young, and her siblings in Aetna.

Another important relationship in Kayleen's life was with a man named Michael Manno, who was roughly 25 years older than her.

According to her father, Jason, their relationship had been on and off, but Kayleen had broken up with him after learning that Michael was cheating on her.

Jason also said that Kayleen had recently learned that she was pregnant and that he believed Michael was the father.

Around this time, on January 9th, 2020, Kayleen was visiting a friend in nearby Millvale.

Allegheny County Police say that she was last seen at that friend's house before leaving to meet someone, and she was expected to return.

Police haven't said who either person was, but her family has consistently claimed that it was Michael that picked her up.

The Ohling Foundation, an organization founded by her family, says that she was picked up at approximately 1 a.m. on January 10, 2020.

Jason says Kayleen wanted to see Michael because he still had a necklace that had belonged to her grandmother and that Michael had offered to pick her up.

At 1.36 a.m., a text was sent from Kayleen's phone to her mother, Tiffany, saying that she would be back later that morning to babysit her younger siblings.

Then, at about 3.40 a.m., the Oling Foundation's timeline says that her phone registered a location near the 62nd Street Bridge in Sharpsburg.

The foundation also reports that at around 1 p.m., a post on Kayleen's Facebook page alleging Michael's involvement in an armed robbery was deleted, although it doesn't identify who wrote the post or who may have deleted it.

Aetna police would later say Kayleen had stopped using her social media accounts entirely, which was highly unusual for her.

At approximately 3 p.m. on the 10th, Jason says Tiffany called Michael looking for Kayleen.

He says Michael told her Kayleen didn't want to speak with her, and he refused to put her on the phone.
