A police officer shot and killed the 16-year-old as he was running for his life.

But earlier this month, the district attorney's office announced that no criminal charges will be filed against Daniel Gold, the officer who killed Kanoa.

Some community members are questioning that decision.

Earlier this week, I spoke with Tasha Williamson, a community advocate.

So what was your initial reaction to the news that Officer Gold will face no criminal charges?

Well, my initial reaction, to be honest with you, I was a little shocked.

But then when I read the district attorney's letter and her rationale for doing so, I put my independent oversight hat on and my experience with oversight and understood how she came to that decision.

And we can talk more about that, I'm sure.

And frankly, it's all thanks to the vision and courage of President Donald Trump, who has faced nothing but harsh backlash and lawsuits for his efforts to restore order in the nation's capital.

Meanwhile, a federal judge on Tuesday referred the George Soros-backed Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner for federal criminal investigation to determine whether he should be charged with conspiracy or obstruction of justice in his efforts to overturn a murder conviction.

U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond, a George W. Bush appointee, actually a friend of mine, an old friend of Senator Arlen Specter said testimony from the district attorney's staffers described conduct by Larry Krasner and his top deputy, Matthew Stiegler, as troubling.

Larry Krasner, the district attorney, and his attorneys are now being accused of committing crimes such as subverting perjury after they received a court petition to overturn a 2009 second-degree murder conviction.

Dennis Johnson was convicted of second-degree murder in 2009. for the slaying of Kenyatta Smith at a Philadelphia convenience store.

Johnson was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Over the last 10 years, Johnson has been fighting his conviction, insisting that he is innocent.

Four prosecutors in the district attorney's office alleged that Krasner pressured staffers to provide false information to the court to shield a supervisor for blame in this matter.

How and when did ODR get started? It's a great story, really, because I was involved all the way at the beginning, I think just by happenstance.

But the person that really started the whole process was the DA at the time, Jackie Lacey.

Jackie was a pretty traditional career prosecutor.

She had worked in the DA's office much of her career.

and saw that the way that people with serious mental illness were being treated in our justice system wasn't quite the way that it should be.

What does

felt like there were people that were being processed through the criminal justice system in sort of the usual way, if you will, that really deserved to have something different.

that needed help and didn't necessarily have opportunities to get that help, and that by treating them the same way as anyone else in the criminal justice system, we were sort of missing an opportunity to address someone's issues in a way that might help them not recidivate, not be back in the criminal justice system.

Now, while there's no shortage of persons of interest, Holly's killer has never been found.

This is where the system broke down and you're just not getting any of it.

You're not seeing it from the D.A. who gets not only is no longer the D.A., but he's promoted.

You don't see it from the judge who now is the prosecutor and not just the main.

But I mean, she's a district attorney in charge of the prosecutor's office.

And what we're understanding is that they may have manipulated evidence to get these guys set free.

In a shocking memo, the judge wrote that he had reluctantly concluded Philadelphia's highest law enforcement official and one of his top assistants may have violated the law after hearing testimony alleging a pressure campaign against employees in the DA's office who raised conflict of interest concerns revolving around the assistant prosecutor.

and they said he could face consequences.

Krasner has hit back saying, I respectfully and vigorously disagree.

In November of 2022, Krasner's office filed a petition for his release, arguing that he received ineffective legal representation during the trial.

That petition was signed by then assistant district attorney, Jaslyn Mason, who Diamond noted had a background in patent and trademark law and no experience as a criminal litigator.

And it goes on that they say inexperienced ADAs were involved in the case, blah, blah, blah.

Well, the woman who resigned said they used me to further the personal agenda of concealing in federal habeas cases, regardless of the merits.

The son of the famed filmmaker is accused of stabbing and killing his parents.

LA's district attorney says prosecutors went through an intense review before coming to the conclusion not to seek the death penalty.

The DA's office is now considering unsealing the grand jury transcripts for the case, but the siblings of Reiner are requesting that they stay sealed.

They basically have said that the disclosure to the public and the media of the details and evidence of the killing of their parents will cause them additional trauma and harm.
