Some interesting politicking going on this week as we are learning about some endorsements from Mayor Katie Wilson.
She is endorsing Hannah Sabio Powell to unseat Senate Majority Leader Jamie Peterson in the 43rd District and Ron Davis to unseat Representative Jerry Pollitt in the 46th.
And remember, folks, we have primaries right around the corner coming up in August here.
Bruce Harrell, you know, during the city council races, he made some endorsements, but he never endorsed against incumbents.
And it's risky to basically challenge people who are sitting legislators or lawmakers and say that they should be unseated, because if they don't win, then you've essentially kind of burned a bridge, or it appears that you've burned a bridge with a sitting lawmaker.
And so she's taking a risk here and is kind of gambling on her political sway being significant enough to actually matter here, and that the issues that she ran on for her campaign are something that still holds salience and that voters will attach themselves to.
And, you know, I mean, we're talking about Jamie Peterson here, who was the face of the effort to pass a millionaire's tax in Olympia.
This is a guy who burned a lot of political capital to pass the most significant tax reform that the state has seen in generations.
But, you know, I think there is a general sentiment that That is not particularly kind to people perceived as part of the establishment.
