Well, a mayor's budget never survives the fall without being changed a little bit, especially when it comes to the city council's pet projects, ones specific to their district, etc.

And there's also a big push from some members of the council on police hiring, as the council's budget chair, Dan Strauss, emphasized with me on the set of Council Edition at the Seattle Channel back in June.

We have to keep hiring new officers.

bruce harrell did that's going to make people upset but it is something that would help in this really brutal budget season i asked about capital gains tax and she said that's not that's not going to be a lot of people have failed yeah it's not going to fix things yeah yeah yeah it's not going to be some silver bullet that you like it might help a little bit she didn't say whether or not she was going to go forward with it yeah but you know it's going to be bad i think it's going to be a very bad i mean that's not breaking any news it's going to be a very bad budget season

I had a good inkling of this back in April.

She actually talked with me and Ali Panucci, your budget director, was there, too, on Seattle Channel and actually took some questions from the public about it.

And I think was very straight up about it.

Some advocates for the cameras were concerned about this, but the full council approved this budget move unanimously, making the point that it's looking more and more likely that expansion of surveillance activity is not gonna be happening in Seattle anytime soon.

The city wants to put its resources where they can be useful.
