In this episode, Ryan watches in real time and performs an audio commentary of Kevin Williamson's "SCREAM 7" (2026). Ryan analyzes every detail of the filmmaking, story, and character work of the most…
So Kevin Williamson's Scream 7, starring Neve Campbell, the movie of the moment [laughs] really.
The movie that has kind of defined a lot of my professional life, if you think about it, within the podcast over the last three years.
Um, I feel like a lot of the podcast has been me trying to argue and defend Scream 3, uh, and, you know, kind of make people see it for how I see it or understand that it's not, um, whatever, uh, the surface level critiques of it were back in the day.
Around the year of 2023 after Scream VI, a lot of us wanted Sidney Prescott back in the Scream movies.
I, I saw the image of Sam and Sidney and Gale at the end, and Sidney, um, was there with them, and I was just like, "Yeah, it's her.
I miss her," you know? And I guess, like, back then, like, I wanted Scream 7 to be-- 'Cause back then we thought we were stuck with Sam, you know, and this, uh, ongoing s- prequel storyline.
So the best I was hoping for was that Sidney would be a co-lead, a number two to Sam.
And in Joey's script, how it broke down was if we would be looking at screen time, right, that Sam would have had maybe 35 minutes of screen time and Sidney would have had 29, 30 minutes of screen time.
So she would have been the obvious co-lead number two to Sam, but it was still kind of Sam's story.
