Thunder Chicken Squatch Pre-Race Announcements 2026

First up, we're gonna talk about the weather and handling the heat.

This is actually just the copy and paste from our race two weeks ago at the Squatchy Surprise, because it was quite warm for that event as well.

Same advice here.

Hydrate early and often.

Soak your gear.

Stokes is great because, at least for the 10K and the 17 miler, you are running and hiking next to a lot of water.

There's rivers you're next to.

and creeks so you can get wet if you need to get wet at our aid station for the 17 miler we will have buckets filled with ice cold water that's coming out of the spigot at the steam mill aid station we'll have some sponges you can really get yourselves wet And I just encourage you, if you are starting to overheat, you're feeling hot, slow down, slow down.

That's the biggest way you can mitigate heat and overheating.

And then as always, we encourage you to wear light colored breathable moisture wicking clothing.

A hat or visor makes a big difference.

Don't forget sunscreen and to reapply if you're going to be out there for a long time.

All right, for parking, there is a required state park fee that's $10 per car for New Jersey residents and $20 per car for out-of-state residents.

And this is not money that we collect, this is the state parks, and that is, I believe it's between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, so just be aware of that when you go through the main gate.

The address for getting to the race is 1 Corson Road in Branchville, New Jersey.

And on our website and all the emails, we have a Google link that you can punch into your device in order to navigate there.

So when you get to the park, the park office is going to be on your left.

They're going to collect the fee.

And then you're gonna go straight all the way until you can't go straight anymore.

So it's at least like a five minute drive.

It's very, very beautiful.

You're going through the heart of Stokes.

And when you reach the end of Courson Road, there is a T. We're gonna have a picture on the next slide.

You can turn left if you get in there early.

There's a small parking lot that's right across from the Kittle Days area where we set up.
