Celtic fans protested principal shareholder Dermot Desmond at St. Andrew's Golf Course on Saturday.

And that rattled his cage so much so that at 10 past 10 on Saturday night, he released his own statement to the club website where he repeats himself 5,000 times, refers to St. Andrew's as the beloved home of golf and threatens to ban Celtic supporters from Celtic Park.

After everything that's gone wrong at Celtic over the past 12 months in particular, it seems like the only way to get to Dermot Desmond is by bothering him at the golf, his own little ecosystem where he's so protected and so loved and so, you know, in his own company.

In the wake of that, it was also announced that the Celtic fans collective will not be granted any further access to Celtic in regard to a conversation, any meetings about the future of the club.

Basically, they are from this point forward saying, you don't exist to us, to the Celtic fans collective and essentially blame them for what happened at St. Andrew's on Saturday afternoon.

Initially, they said they will respond further, but let's have a look at the initial response.

The Celtic fans collective wrote yesterday, and yet another rash late night statement.

Celtic Football Club almost certainly at the behest of minority shareholder Dermot Desmond sought to attack the Celtic fans collective.

Similar interventions in recent years have tended to appear whenever the notoriously thin-skinned Desmond feels personally slighted.

Yet when Celtic endured disastrous transfer windows, failed managerial appointments, supporters being attacked or kettled by police or humiliating performances on the park that have actually damaged Celtic's reputation, the same urgency is nowhere to be seen.

This tells Celtic supporters everything they need to know about Dermot Desmond and his priorities.

He appears furious that ordinary working class fans have dared to air the grievances in the safe elitist world of golf, embarrassing him in the front of the network of people whose opinions he appears to value more than those of the Celtic supporters.

We will respond in greater detail to the disgraceful mischaracterization of our organization and of Celtic supporters who have lost confidence in this board in due course.

For now, if Dermot Desmond believes threats and bluster will silence opposition and allow him to return to presiding over Celtic's decline undisturbed from the golf course, he is sadly mistaken.

Another example of Celtic supporters writing a far stronger, well-written and just generally more professional statement than Dermot Desmond has in both of his last two.

The night that Brendan Rodgers resigned and on Saturday, statements that were all over the place, that were poorly written, that were so self-serving and narcissistic.
