Have you ever heard someone say, "Well, Babe Ruth didn't play against black guys." Have you ever thought about that and wondered if it would have mattered? It's weird to talk about, but I'm weird.
[tape rewinding] Every time I tweet something awesome about Babe Ruth, I'm always met with things like, "Well, it was a different era, and he didn't play against Black pitchers.
Buh." You know, it's kind of like the knee-jerk reaction and, and, like, I mean, I, I'm always wondered, like, the, does it, does it matter? Like, what if, what if it doesn't matter? What...
I mean, I'm just saying.
And every time I hear these things, whether it's on, like, you know, TV or, like, Twitter, I always look around and I'm like, "I don't...
But I don't see any Black pitchers, and the ones I do see kind of suck." Like Marcus Stroman, he kind of sucks, you know? Uh, there's that Carl Edwards guy, you know? And then there's, there's like a bunch of white pitchers.
Uh, there's some, uh, Latin pitchers and, uh, like Bob Gibson is my favorite pitcher of all time, but he pitched in the '70s.
Um, so, like, what, like, what if it doesn't matter? What if race doesn't matter in regard to pitching or hitting? You know what I mean? Let's talk about it.
