What if procrastination is costing you business? In this episode, I sit down with Jon Acuff to unpack why smart, capable professionals procrastinate on the things that actually grow their businesses…
Mo BunnellHost
Why don't you just like apply principles from Procrastination Proof, the book, on why people might delay on that kind of stuff and what they should do?
But in a general sense, I just say the things that I don't want to do get extra tools.
I don't have to have a lot of tools or resources to do the things I'm good at that I enjoy doing.
But the things that I don't enjoy but are still valuable, I do have to talk myself into those things.
One specific thing would be like, how can I daisy chain something I don't want to do to something that I really want to do? Meaning...
My favorite thing in the world is about 50 to 60 times a year, I get to spend an hour on stage with a company, with a corporation, with a team.
Those things that maybe don't come naturally to me are uncomfortable or awkward or whatever.
So I need to daisy chain them together to show the value of doing the thing I don't want to do because it leads to this other thing.
And I'll give you one very specific example that changed the way I look at sales because we talked about like, okay, you're an expert lawyer, but you don't want to do like growing your business is challenging your expert consultant, but growing your business.
I would be in the lobby after I had just spoken at an event and people would come up to me and go, hey, we want to bring you to our event.
