Ep. 243 - Jumping the Shark

[laughs] So for those who haven't caught the last show, I was up in Alaska with my family because my youngest is gonna go to school up there, and so I'm actually gonna be going back in August to drop her off for the move-in.

But, uh, we took this time to go tour the campus, and we did a little extra time going to the Denali National Park and riding the train.

I highly recommend the train ride from Fairbanks to Anchorage.

A very scenic, very cool, and, uh, as you guys were talking about, there's airplanes kind of under every rock there.

So the analogy that I came up with, uh, as Cuba is to old cars where they just keep 'em running and using them forever, it seems like that's what Alaska is to airplanes.

[laughs]

There's just, uh-

Just keep the old planes running forever?

Uh, yeah, they, they use every salvageable part and keep 'em going.

So.

[laughs] The only, the only flyable Curtiss flyer is up in-

[laughs] Right

...

Alaska.

[laughs]

Yeah.

Anyway, so lots of neat stuff for people who are into airplanes.

Kinda every direction you look there's, you know, something aviation related.

And I can't repeat any of the stats, they were told to me a few times, but a very tiny percentage of Alasa- Alaska is accessible by roads or boat.

All the rest of the interior, if you don't have an airplane, forget about it.

You're m- not getting there.

So, so I wonder if...

What about helicopters? Do you think maybe helicopters will be more popular if it's so hard to get to places? But-

Oh, well, yeah, that's probably part of it too

... who knows.
