RANGE reporter Aaron Hedge joins Val to discuss a proposed AI data center in Airway Heights, and then housing development and conservation efforts in Latah Valley along Highway 195. Articles…
data centers because spokane county just started a moratorium obviously they still need to talk about these things because they're working on
what's it called the conference of planning and planning around it and stuff like
that yeah but i'm curious like what are these talks happening in airway heights
There's not right now at this moment a data center being constructed or built on the West Plains.
This is only one of the at least three data centers that are being considered right now across Spokane County.
Really quick, when you say there's three data centers being considered and maybe four considered in the Spokane County area, do you mean that there are three to four separate companies that are trying to bring data centers here or that... one or two companies are trying to find a spot for three or four data centers.
We know that there are at least three separate companies that are trying to construct hyperscale data centers in Spokane County.
The fourth one does not have, as far as I can tell, it doesn't have a potential person who wants to build it because it's part of a development project that's in the earliest stages of works.
But why Airway Heights is important right now is the largest of these four data centers will be located either in Airway Heights or in Medical Lake.
And a person who filed a bunch of rep, her name's Brittany Anderson, she was actually on this show a couple of weeks ago talking with me.
She has been receiving a lot of documents back that she requested from various governments, including state-level governments.
And she discovered that there was a meeting between the data center developer that County Commissioner Al French has been in talks with for months now.
