The Propulsion Swimming Podcast reviews day 4 of the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships 2026. We talk through to Eva Okaro, Ed Mildred and Ollie Morgan after their victories as well in the 50m…
The first race of night one was the men's 50 metres backstroke.
And we spoke to Olly Morgan yesterday after the 100 metres backstroke.
And it was as disappointed as I've really ever seen Olly Morgan at British Championships.
Today, much happier version of Olly after a 24.36 personal best in the 50.
Yeah, I think everyone feels better when they've gone the fastest time they've ever done.
24.3 is actually kind of what I spoke to his dad just before the race, and I kind of said to him, 24.3 should be the target here.
It's good when a prediction comes in as well.
So when they go best times and your prediction comes in, it's great.
He wasn't just the only one in this race.
Yes.
In the time that he needed to go.
That was good to see as well.
So there's a bit of competition now in this 50 meter back show because going in, Oli was ahead by what, 0.6, 0.7 of a second, which is massive on a 50.
I suppose he's won by 0.3, which is still a big margin, but he's not alone in this event, which is great to see.
He has kind of been the standout name there for Bath University, even with the names of Cam Brooker, Matt Ward.
He's been given the licence in the 100 and the 50 back and he really didn't disappoint.
I'm going to give kudos to the Aquatics GB media team who actually filmed Nutty and Jack Skerry for that celebration.
It's kind of nice when things like that come off in the media world.
Go check that clip out.
They're the other side of the curtain next to me.
um but it was a really really good clip um jack didn't disappoint whatsoever in that one um and actually we spoke to ollie after the race just to hear kind of a change of tone essentially after the 100 moving to this 50 and what he's looking forward to in the 200 later on this week um and he's yeah he's gonna try and beat his lactate score by the sounds of it
ollie much happier tonight yeah definitely i was definitely disappointed after last night i mean obviously i can't really complain with the time but just i think just a little bit in my head a bit so it was nice to come in today you know pb really good time so yeah over the moon
like you said 50 pb has the speed been the work on this season
