I brought two of my favorite niche podcasters up on stage for this one: Hayleigh of Cork & Fizz, who's built a wine education business and podcast from the ground up, and Justin of Repertoire, who…

Hayleigh HayhurstHostAre your podcasts video or just audio?
I do record video.
No, that's okay.
I see
I do record video, but I use it primarily for promotional content at the moment.
It's primarily due to, you know, the podcast manager that I work with, she edits the audio, not the video.
And so... you know, we can use the video for promotional, but, like, if we were going to post it on YouTube, it would likely be unedited, and maybe that's okay, too, and that's an area where, like, again, I still have area of growth and some things to do, but, and maybe I'm a little, like, blindsided, what does that mean, like, with the blinders on, like, I never watch podcasts, I'm like, who watches podcasts, and clearly people watch podcasts, like, just not me.

If anybody wants to talk about video editing stuff, the tools are really good now, and I'm happy to kind of share what's working right now with anybody who wants to chat after this.
Yeah, and whenever someone comes to me to launch a podcast or wants me to take over editing, I do really encourage them to do video and audio.
You don't have to, of course, but it is just like an additional way that people can find you and all of that.
Is that two platforms? Like there's the audio platform and the video platform? Or is

So like Spotify right now, you can just upload a video file and it will just send it all platforms, play it as video.
Apple did recently launch it, but it's specific places where you can upload it and it's quite expensive now.
Like you have to pick the right platform and usually it's like $50 a month to get your video on Apple.
which like I feel like maybe the theme of this other than niche is like you don't have to start with video right like I I've been doing the podcast for a while and hopefully maybe one day I'll have video but I you know I didn't start with it and it made it a little easier to start
