Episode 9: White Sox vs. Astros: An Extremely Biased Playoff Preview

The wildcard round starts this week, and wouldn't you know it, my boys, the Chicago White Sox will once again... be matched up against the Houston Astros.

I'm not sure why these two teams and these franchises keep getting matched up in the playoffs.

Now, granted, the White Sox have not been in the playoffs as much as the Astros, but every time we're in it, it seems like we're facing the Astros.

Obviously, 2005, we swept that series, which was awesome.

And then 2021, you guys got us back.

The Astros fans, which I know most people listening to this podcast are Astros fans.

So you guys got us back in 2021.

It was a bad matchup for us, although I thought we should have won one of those games here in Houston.

Could have forced a game five, is what it is.

And now, Sox are back in the playoffs, and guess who they face? A 500 Astros team.

What are the odds? What are the chances these two franchises keep meeting in the postseason? So let's talk playoff baseball a little bit as the White Sox and Astros get geared up for a wildcard series that starts on Tuesday at Dyken Park.

Four o'clock, I believe, is first pitch all afternoon games.

Astros don't get the early game this time around, which is a bit of a surprise.

Usually the Astros are getting that early game.

And I feel like if the Guardians had won the wild card spot and the Sox had been in the division winner selection position, I think the Astros may have gotten that early game.

But anyway, they've got the afternoon game all three days, Dyken Park.

It'll be interesting.

So this podcast, for you Astros fans that are listening, will kind of be a little bit of a glimpse into what the White Sox are all about.

Kind of an interesting perspective from a White Sox fan, somebody that kind of understands the game a little bit, that has watched the White Sox all season long, have not watched much of the Astros, like I've said in previous podcasts.

First of all, I don't even have the channel, Space City Home Network.

I don't have cable.

So I'm not about to subscribe to the Astros Space City Home Network channel.

Sorry about that.

I'm not going to watch the Astros.

I want to watch the White Sox play.
