Episode 17 - City Council Budget Meeting Highlights and the August 17, 2026 City Council Meeting

They're not very glamorous, but, you know, it's part of the process.

So these last questions.

a couple of weeks have been budget season here in Pelham.

That's correct.

And there were four separate budget meetings.

Is that typical? It is.

You know, and it's spread out depending on the council and what their availability is, but traditionally it's four to five meetings.

Okay.

Um, in this case it was four meetings, August 4th, 8th, 11th and 12th.

Um, this initial meeting, it's the initial meeting where they kind of introduce, the entire foundation of what the rest of the budget week or weeks are going to look like where they lay out.

I imagine you can tell me if I'm wrong.

I imagine, um, This is what you need to look out for.

This is something that, you know, we've always done.

So let's keep it the same.

And it's just sort of a almost an outline of what you're going to be doing.

Is that fair to say?

It is.

We have some very intelligent people that work in the revenue and income department.

That would not be me.

Yeah.

And they read trends and things like this.

And then they come together and they say, this is what we think we're going to do as a city based on nationally what the trends are.

and they roll out this is where we think we're going to be at for the year so this really does lay the foundation for every other thing because if you don't have the revenue you don't i

was going to say it's not just about the expenditures it's about hey this is the income what we're going to be getting in or may not be getting in

as it were whatever it might be so it's it's a super important meeting absolutely
