Okay, so I want to start with the woke thing, because that seems to constantly be in vogue at the moment.
sentence, making sacred of historically marginalized race, number one, gender and sexual identity groups.
So what you're doing there is you're making certain groups sacred, their stories sacred, and the stories of their oppression and oppressors sacred.
And so what this means is that if you say anything that might be construed as offending even the most hypothetically sensitive member of one of these groups, then you have profaned the sacred, you violated the sacred, and therefore you must be expelled from the moral community.
Now, out of that comes a kind of philosophy that which says we want equal outcomes by race, by sex, for example, and any gaps, race gap, sex gap in wealth, in share of students at Harvard, you name it, is evidence of quote-unquote systemic racism, systemic sexism or patriarchy.
So again, anything you say that might be construed as offending, and is the cause of what's known as emotional trauma or a violation of emotional safety or microaggression.
Those are the two prongs of this thing, right? So equal outcomes, emotional harm protection for historically marginalized sacred groups.
And so, for example, talking about immigration might offend a sensitive member of historically marginalized groups you can't do that and we'll cancel you so your speech has to be restricted and that's where we get problems with free speech is that speech restriction and censorship are part of the ethos because the ethos is saying the emotional safety of these groups is more important than your free speech so when there's a clash then we're going to shut down your free speech in order to ensure emotional safety and with the equality stuff equal outcomes by race is more important than equal treatment of you non-discrimination.
So we are going to discriminate against whites, males, Asians, let's say, to get more blacks in.
So we don't necessarily care about racial discrimination if it's going the right way.
