When I came to the event, obviously you read out the first few pages of Death's Daughter, and I had brought my youngest daughter, River, along, so she sat with us.
And there is a line where one of the characters is jokingly saying, "Hey kid, you want some candy?"
And so my daughter knew I was recording with you today, and she wanted me to ask you when she's getting her candy.
That is, that is a joke in the context of, you know, a predator attempting to lure someone into a car.
You know what? We'll have to make some arrangements at some point for me to give you candy for her.
She just kept asking me like, "Mom, when am I gonna get my candy?" I'm like, "River, what are you talking about?" [laughs]
She said, 'Hey kid, you want some candy?'" I'm like, "River, that was in the book." [laughs]
Oh my gosh, and like of all the things, like all the things to latch onto, like oh my gosh.
And I swear this has become like a core memory for her now, and this is how she is always going to remember you.
[laughs] I'm happy that she remembers, and I le- I love that, you know, that she goes to these book things.
