I visited some of the places that were founded by the people who really planted this type of practice community in the United States.
So I went to Zen Center Los Angeles, which was founded by Mizumi Roshi and was his kind of root founding temple.
He founded the White Plum Lineage, which is like, if you know Joan Halifax, Jan Chosen Bayes, Bernie Glassman, you know, incredibly influential figures were his students.
Of course, this temple is founded by Katagiri Roshi, so this temple is in this category, which is, I had forgotten, and then I wrote these down.
I
uh jikoji zen center founded by kobanchino roshi uh so kobanchino and kategori both brought to the us by or suzuki really helped kind of get them settled here and open up their own ways jikoji's in the zclas in los angeles san francisco center okay you can figure that out uh jikoji is uh near palo alto up in the mountains very

You know, Katagiri was deeply associated with San Francisco Zen Center, which is, it's quite a big operation.
You know, they have multiple huge facilities, but in their kitchen, there's two stained glass windows, and they show hands in gassho, and one of the hands is kind of crooked, And one of the hands is utterly precise.
And the crooked one is from an image of Shinryu Suzuki's hand, who had a broken finger.
And the utterly precise one is Katagiri Roshi, our founder, who I never practiced with him, but I gather he was into precision.
But, you know, right before I, shortly before I arrived at San Francisco Zen Center, the Zendo at Tassajara had burned down.
