In case you missed the, I believe it was yesterday, Shams Charania reported the Memphis Grizzlies are waiving 2025 number 18, number, uh, number 18, sorry, overall pick, Walter Clayton Jr., and of course, Micah Peavy, sources tell ESPN.

So when this initially launched, everyone started to talk about a bunch of different teams, but more importantly, could the Mavericks be interested here? There's obviously the relationship between Wal- Walter Clayton Jr.

Marc Stein just reported minutes ago that the Mavericks are a leading contender to land Walter Clayton Jr. when he clears waivers, and he goes on to say that Dallas currently has 15, uh, standard contracts, and of course, they're full, but they have opened a two-way spot after its recent release of John Pulakitis.

I'm told that Dusty May has a preexisting relationship with Clayton after recruiting him to college.

They're the leading contender, but the Mavericks have been the only team, you know, formally linked.

Yeah, and I think that the linking of Walter Clayton to the Mavericks is a huge thing because at this point in time, you think, okay, if he clears waivers and gets to choose where he wants to go, then he's gonna choose the Mavericks if that relationship is strong, like it said here, and that they are the leading team.

I think the only way that this doesn't happen at this point is if there's a team who decides to sign him before, you know, b- if he doesn't clear waivers, I think that's the biggest thing, and takes on the contract, which I find highly, highly unlikely 'cause, again, he is a former number 18 overall pick.

So that contract that they'd be taking on is not as, you know, friendly as you might like it to be.

When we talk about Zachary Echeche and how he was a former number one overall pick and hasn't looked like it, and yet now in the Maverick system, he's looked better than he ever has.

Was it a reach at the time? I'll let that, you know, let you guys kind of decide that, but there are a bunch of other things surrounding this and why the Mavericks make sense.
