Got Character?

So just to give you a quickie with where I hope to go today, we're going to talk about the word character.

I've got some definitions, synonyms, and only one antonym that goes with it.

We're going to talk about how character and the good qualities within a person's character ends up being the opposite of victimhood, both of which are really characteristics of identities.

After that, I'm going to bring you to where I was last Friday in Pinellas County, Florida at some very wonderful and inspiring event called Boys Court.

After that, I'm going to bring you back, as I promised, to when I was in second grade and I discovered a whole series of biographies because I was lacking in the same way or no, I don't want to say the same way, but I was a young child needing better direction and guidance for my future when I was at a precarious time in life.

And I'm going to complete it with what does it mean for you? Okay, so let's see what I could do with this.

All right, got character.

Let's look up the word first.

And I probably went to dictionary.com. For some reason, that seems to be my favorite go-to place.

The definitions that jumped out at me for the word character include this.

Number one, the aggregate or summation of features and traits that form the individual nature of a person or thing.

But in this case, we're just talking about people.

Another definition that jumped out at me was moral or ethical quality.

Another was this, qualities of honesty, courage, or the like, integrity, and also reputation, good repute.

And I love this one, moral excellence and firmness.

So think about just when you consider the word character, how it feels even just to consider the word and all of the implications and how that might relate to you as an individual or to those that you are looking at as individuals.

Some of the synonyms for character include courage, intelligence, name, I would say is in a good name, fame, honor, standing, rectitude, reputation, and uprightness.

Every one of those probably gives you this feeling of stature, firmness, a good quality, something you could look at and know that if you Test it out, it will still stand, and that you can trust in it.

That's how I would think of the word character, obviously good character.

The only antonym that came out when I looked for it was ill repute.

When you think about that, or when I think about it, I think about a person that you wouldn't wanna go to for direction, you wouldn't wanna rely on during a challenging time.

It wouldn't be someone who you could trust in.

So this whole idea of character and the focus on it is that character might become built up in us.

And you know oftentimes when we grow, we may grow physically in life.

We go from a little baby, and we might grow to a certain height, weight, um, but we don't always concentrate on growth from within, and that's where we're going today.
