class we're always looking for great performances by young quarterbacks and this week we found five give me that Jake and we're gonna put stickers look at that little barstool sticker we're gonna put it right on the Fox one helmet five excellent performances and we're starting at West Virginia with Michael Hawkins here's a redshirt sophomore that transfers to West Virginia from Oklahoma You know, West Virginia only won four games last year, and head coach Rich Rodriguez goes with Hawkins to help revive the football program at West Virginia.

And Hawkins looks like a dual threat beast.

He wears number three, and against 25th ranked Virginia, he accumulates five touchdowns.

He throws for 190 in two touchdowns, and he runs for 123 yards and three more.

One of them, he looked like a, I don't know what, jumping over two Virginia Cavaliers.

Five touchdowns, and West Virginia is 3-0 for the first time since 2018.

Michael Hawkins, he's poised, he's fearless, and he's clutch, and the Mountaineers are fun to watch.

That's a glowing review if I've ever heard one in my life.

So, you know, John Gruden, the guy that I have a lot of respect for, love watching.

He knows quarterbacks.

He knows quarterback play.

And, man, you know, it's just going to be one of those things where Mike Hawkins Jr. has the world in his hands right now.

The world is literally his oyster to do with what he wants.

And I think – When you look at where he's come from to where he is, I mean, here's how I kind of want to build this.

So Mike Hawkins, if you go back to Oklahoma, they had Michael Hawkins Jr. in the building.

Ben Arbuckle arrived, and John Mateer came with him.

Obviously, Mateer is the guy.

I get that.

And so Hawkins had to sit behind him, right, and let somebody else, you know – kind of tell him where he was going to be at in his career because material clearly was a chosen one and he wasn't going to be part of the answer.

So three games into his West Virginia career, I think we're seeing exactly what that choice unlocked coming to the Mountaineers and the rise of Mike Hawkins jr.

You know, he came to West Virginia with a chip on his shoulder the size of the state of Oklahoma.

And I think he's showing the country through three games exactly what they're missing, like I said.

And, you know, against Coastal, he had a great game, obviously, first half specifically.

132, 103 on the ground, another touchdown there.

You know, UT Martin still continue to produce, and then obviously against Virginia, you have your best game of your career to date against a ranked team at a neutral site game away from home.
