RUMOR: Ahmad Hardy CLOSE To Return?

And what's next here on Locked on Mizzou, a big old rumor dropped last night on the Power Mizzou message board.

Well, for those of you who frequent that place, the name Big Black Lab will be familiar to you.

But for 90% of you who probably o- aren't over there, you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Well, allow me to get you up to date.

This is a poster on Power Mizzou message boards who's had really good information in the past.

I will say, though, specifically on Ahmad Hardy, this poster had some information earlier that was maybe a little bit more optimistic in retrospect than perhaps it should have been.

Though I will say I think that mirrored pretty much what Eli Drinkwitz attitude on Ahmad Hardy has been, say, over the last month or two, which has been seemingly increasing pessimism or just, I don't know, getting tired of answering the question, I suppose.

And the answer to that question is always rehab.

It's gonna take him two weeks to ramp up.

Well, again, this poster, Big Black Lab, here's the quote here.

Here's the big rumor.

"It sounds like Hardy will start practicing this week in preparation to play against Arkansas." Well, a couple things there.

Number one, that would obviously line up exactly with what Drinkwitz has said all along, that he'll need at least a couple of weeks of ramp-up time.

So nobody's saying that he's coming back for the Ole Miss game.

That wouldn't make a lot of sense.

And by the way, Gabe DeArmond over at Power Mizzou has not poo-pooed this rumor either and has in fact said he's heard this type of, let's just say, optimistic speculation from other corners of the Mizzou realm here.

So I think this is interesting because while we're gonna hear from Drinkwitz today, I, I would expect we'll hear very much the same tune from Drinkwitz we've had about Ahmad Hardy this all, this whole time today.

But of course with Mizzou being on a bye next week, no matter what happens with Ole Miss, of course, a week off, so the media will not be seeing practice during the off week.

They won't be talking to Drinkwitz, presumably any of the players either.

So again, two weeks.

I'm just saying the next time we hear from Drinkwitz will be two weeks from today when we're gonna hear from him this afternoon.

Could be nothing.

I'm just saying it does line up with the timeframe here being put forth in the rumor mill.

And by the way, in my tease there when I said, "Hey, Ahmad Hardy, he'd make a pretty good looking RB2, huh?" Well, I'm obviously being a little bit sarcastic there because Ahmad Hardy is one of the best running backs in the entire country.

So the idea that he would be, well, a backup to anybody is a little bit amusing.
