**Episode 44: The Live Well with Arthritis Podcast** *#44 Wheelchair to West End: Ana Villafañe on Living with RA for 30 Years* **One in four of us live with arthritis, so why do so many of us feel…
I've learned to actually listen to the things that I want versus... being a little bit more cavalier.
I've learned to give myself time, so not to rush, not to let my nervous system be driving the car.
I need to really put myself in a position where I feel I don't know if this is healthy, but ultimately I'm not in control of how my body is going to feel on any given day.
So whether it's my diet, whether it's my sleep, whether it's I stopped drinking.
And I don't know if that's a forever thing, but at least for now, I feel better.
So why wouldn't I do that? Why would I not give myself the opportunity to feel better? But I think a lot of that came with accepting the fact that I had a problem to begin with.
Because you are, how can you be the hero in your own story? How can you be the hero in your own story if your body is also the villain in your own story? And I think that, is what I struggled with for a really long time.
and then add into that having a career where aesthetics matter add into that any sort of you know just existing in the world right but then I see like the self care movement right it's a lot more trendy now to self care and like self love and wellness and all these things that are kind of now I don't know just more in style
yeah And I'm glad, you know, because I feel like I didn't have like the choice necessarily.
