Elliot James LangridgeHostMy podcast is usually about, you know, how someone's career begins, how it all started, and obviously you've been doing this...
I mean, you've got over 270 IM- IMDB credits, which is impressive, very impressive.
So, uh, I was thrown right into the, with the wolves, uh, in terms of, you know, coming up with a sort of a comedic, multidimensional kind of a performance, and I found that to be as seductive as anything that had happened to me.
And so from, from that experience, I did every, every single other play in high school till graduation, then four years of college, just one play after another, and then two more years of graduate school.
And, and I, uh, even though I was terrified to, to go from the, the, the, the safe laboratory experience of school into the hardscrabble life of pounding the pavement in New York City and trying to get theater work, I didn't see any other choice.
So, um, I've been doing it ever since and happy I, happy I found it, and I'm really happy that God allowed me the, uh, fortitude to keep going under all circumstances.
I- I'm, I'm finally at the point in my life where, um, um, some appreciation is, is kind of allowed to, to come into the conversation.
I was always just driven, like, what's next? What's next? Um, you know, how am I doing? Uh, where am I in my career? Do I...
What do I need to do to make things better or worse? Everything was judged by, um, a hunger for, um, s- stuff I hadn't achieved yet, and I'm finally, at 74 years old, uh, beginning to understand, um, the dreams of that 15-year-old kid and how m- not only did they all come true, but way, way beyond anything I ever dreamed has become m- my reality.
And, and, um, I'm, I'm allowing myself finally to, to pause and appreciate, uh, how blessed my life has been and, um, and how fortunate I, I have been, not only with the opportunities that I had, but, um, how those rough times that you refer to, um, made me appreciate, um, the good times and made me understand nothing should be taken for granted in this life.
Yeah, I'm a big fan, um, so it's a big deal for me to get to hear you say that from, you know, from the horse's mouth.
I'd love to ask, while we're still here and got a little bit of time, do you have any advice for, you know, actors starting out and, you know, not only keeping that fortitude and keep going, but do you have any other sort of advice for someone starting out now?
