Hebrews chapter 12, have you turned there in your Bible? We've been going through a three-week series called Look to Jesus.
And over the last three weeks, we looked at what the first two verses say in Hebrews chapter 12.
And we talked about week one, what it looks like to remove hindrances from your life so you can pursue Christ.
That people came out of last week's service and you were able to walk in a newfound freedom because of confessed sin and being right with God.
Therefore... "'Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, "'let us also lay aside every weight "'and sin which clings so closely.'" Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
who endured such hostility for sinners against himself, so that you won't grow weary and give up.
Will you pray with me? Holy Spirit, I'm asking that the same spirit that inspired the writer of Hebrews to give us these truths would now anoint me to preach your word.
And I'm asking that your spirit would reign here, that we would receive what we need from your word.
Now I pray, as I always pray, that my preaching would not rest in the clever or cunning words of men, but in power and demonstration of the spirit of God, so that our faith might rest in your spirit.
