You know, I just was thinking about what you said, lifestyle versus economic circumstance.
You know, and I say racial capitalism because I can't remember his name right now.
But the person, the one of the so-called colonizers who found themselves in Africa.
And he Rodney was saying that when the first set of Europeans, not first set, but I would say like I think he was looking at more closely to slavery when they first arrived in Africa.
So these are actual words that were used to describe what was happening and what they saw.
So I just want you to note that, that these are things that were actually said.
So again, This particular explorer arrived into Africa, West Africa in particular, and saw what he saw and described the women... as beastly and manly and muscular and carried themselves in such way because they were doing all of the agricultural work and described the men as lazy because what that explorer saw were black men in his eyes sitting around doing nothing.
So when you think about economic circumstance versus lifestyle, we have to think of the pre-colonial system of black people.
And how we actually functioned as a society before we then bring in statistics or not before we then.
So, so then when we bring in the statistics, we're framing this in a particular way to show that.
the system that says or balances this and says, is this lifestyle, is this economic circumstance? We're also saying that the system that we are measuring this against is actually not for us and wasn't built for our benefit.
You see, you see what, you see what I'm saying? So, so in the sense of lifestyle versus economic circumstance of a black man staying at home and and being the one who stays at home and does more of the nurturing and the woman goes out to work, we have to question, was this the lifestyle before colonialism, pre-colonial lifestyle of our ancestors and has the system that post-colonial framing has made us find ourselves in through slavery now make it seem like this is not the norm.
