For Howie, I'm sure it's bittersweet as he's, I'm sure, looking forward to retirement and spending time with his family.

I mean, for most people watching this, for you, for me, for anybody who's younger than, what, 40, 50 years old, You literally don't know what it's like to listen to a Met game on the radio and not hear Howie Rose talking back to you.

We talked about this on an earlier episode, I think in March or April, when we were previewing the season about...

And it was either Mike and the Mad Dog or it was Howie Rose doing play-by-play for a Mets game that I couldn't have cared less about at the time.

And yet, now I'm going to spend the rest of my life wishing I was back in that car, not caring about whatever's going on on the radio.

That would have felt like a really unfortunate turn of events and something that Howie just would have deserved a better send-off than that.

I know it was still a little bit awkward with his ceremony getting pushed to next year they weren't even sure that they were going to play a game on Sunday so they kind of treated Saturday like it that might have been the finale for him um he even went on to say essentially goodbye at the end of that broadcast just in case I'm glad he still got that send off it's unfortunate that they lost the game it's unfortunate that It was a really bad year for it to be his last year.

I think the soundbite, more than any... home run call or strikeout or big moment call.

I think the one of the calls that's going to sit with me the most from Howie's entire career is how he wrote off the 2024 season.
