Erika Forsyth is back. She and Scott take apart the paradox of CGM data — why more information can make you feel worse, and how checking every five minutes starts to run you…
It's funny how it sticks with you, too, 'cause I still, if I, I don't know how often I check Arden's blood sugar with a meter anymore, like me personally.
But sometimes overnight, you know, and I still immediately, without thinking, like milk her finger.
Like, do you know what I mean? Like squeeze it from her hand up to the tip to try to get blood into it and so that it'll go easier, and yeah, I, I don't think that's a skill I'm gonna lose anytime soon.
So I think g- It kind of, it is a general summary and, you know, theme is that yes, CGM data is, serves as kinda main two, two things, right? It, it's, yes, it's a tool for safety, but we know that it can also become a source of added stress and distress.
But when we start to use it, um, when the nervous system becomes, um, reliant upon access to the data and using it as a kind of a regulating mechanism to feel safe in your body, so that's what we're gonna talk about, just noticing what does that look like, what does that feel like, what is this paradox, right, that, um, that can occur-
I, I'm gonna say right before you jump in, if you asked me to describe what a CGM does, I wouldn't say safety first.
