Handling Mistreatment - with Kevin Carson

And I asked if you would be willing to share with us some of the information you teach at our Biblical Counseling Training conference on mistreatment, and I'm intrigued what you mean by that term, mistreatment, that we're gonna talk about today.

Yeah, so the term itself, it's interesting because the world uses a lot of terms, and sometimes not very biblical terms, for the way that you get treated in relationships primarily.

Okay.

Not circumstantial.

Yep.

But in relationships, sometimes we say we're sinned against.

Sometimes we say we're going through suffering.

And then, of course, some people say, "I've been abused."

Yep.

And abuse has, like, 100 definitions.

That's right.

It just depends upon the person saying it.

Yep.

So when I sit down with someone and they begin down that path, my mind goes to mistreatment because I don't know what's going on.

Yes.

There's questions I need to ask.

Yes.

And I'm not sure, but I do know the Bible talks about mistreatment.

Yes.

And I know if I can stick with mistreatment in my own mind, it helps me stay on a path of sanctification.
