Well, folks, the investigation into Congresswoman Ilhan Omar just took what could be a very significant turn.

And this time, we're not just talking about political accusations or rumors that have been floating around Washington for years now.

According to a new report from the New York Post, federal investigators have reportedly obtained DNA evidence they believe could help establish whether the Minnesota Democrat married her own brother as part of an immigration fraud scheme.

We just know that there are reports that they were going through her trash, allegedly, to find DNA.

But if the reporting is accurate, this could represent a major development in an investigation that has followed Ilhan Omar for about a decade or so.

According to sources who spoke with the New York Post, federal prosecutors have been examining government records, information from whistleblowers, and now possibly DNA evidence as they investigate possible immigration fraud involving Omar and members of her family.

At the center of part of the investigation is Omar's 2009 marriage to a man named Ahmad Nursad Elmi.

For years, critics have alleged that Elmi was actually Omar's biological brother and that the marriage was arranged to help him obtain legal immigration status in the United States.

Omar has repeatedly denied the allegation, of course, calling it absurd and offensive.

according to the latest reporting investigators now believe they may have biological evidence relevant to that question and here's an interesting detail the post reports that elmi applied for a marriage-based green card but withdrew the application in 2019 after immigration officials requested additional documentation that green card was never issued So even if investigators could establish that Omar and Elmi were related, prosecutors would still have to prove that a crime occurred, including any required intent to deceive immigration authorities.

What happened last just last week, October the 12th, federal agents executed a search warrant at Omar's Washington, D.C. residence.

have independently confirmed significant portions of the investigation, although neither has independently established the new DNA claim.

So again, it's still kind of a rumor, but it's coming from some pretty legitimate sources.
