However, I want to start by saying something that might be a little controversial.

I think Gears of War E-Day is better than Gears of War 4, 5, and Gears of War Judgment.

Those aren't terrible games by any stretch of the imagination.

I just think Gears of War E-Day is better.

And that's right.

Those games aren't terrible.

I've enjoyed different things about each of them.

But there's something about E-Day that reminds me of why I fell in love with this franchise in the first place.

Because when I think about Gears of War, I just don't think about the Lancer.

I don't think about chainsawing locusts in half or taking cover behind a wall while bullets are flying everywhere.

I think about the atmosphere.

I think about the characters.

And I think about the desperation of these characters trying to save their planet and save the human race.

And most importantly, I think about the loss.

Gears of War, at its best, has always been a franchise where victory comes at a cost.

You might survive the battle, but that doesn't mean you won the war.

And that's what I think E-Day understands.

This is Gears of War.

This is the Gears of War I've been missing.

Now we're going to get into the campaign, the characters, the gameplay, the story, and a few things I think could have been handled better.
