yeah i think the last thing you just said for sure serene was its own identity it was the beginning of something for me and it let me just release so much that i needed to so i love serene for that and that's my first baby and i really did that for myself so moving forward like i jumped right back into the studio with a whole new energy and jordan was just like okay let's go again and then we're like where are we what are we doing you know and i was like i want some new energy I want to be able to perform more songs that I can bounce around to that other people can and just have it feel really good.

That became a real creative turning point for you.
I wonder what exactly clicked during the writing of that song that made you realize your sound was evolving.
Was it I don't know if it was like something in the lyrics, something that maybe you were staring at the walls at midnight like you are right now.
You're staring at me, but you're not staring at the walls.
You know what I'm saying? It's like you're just you're just looking up at the ceilings.
What is it that something that you can pinpoint to? OK, this is what that is.
that pushed me into where i am today and now i can actually keep this formula going ahead it's a million dollar question but it's like
that's an interesting question because ladybug was a track that i did halfway through these new tracks so i had already made i think six or seven tracks before we got to ladybug but it just felt important at least ladybug when i did because of the symbolism ladybugs um they grow into ladybugs and they fly in june july time so it felt like the right time to to release it and it's a great track for me that i have yeah a big grief a grieving song and i was like you know what this is the time it's been over a year i need to let it go and it's it's these songs are becoming things that i can create and take out of my chest and and then release it and share it and then it kind of just like really takes a weight off of my shoulders so i'm just gonna keep doing that um and with black on white the same thing i'm freaking pissed about something and i'm like i need to get this track out asap and Johnny was just about to head on tour and he's like, okay, let's get her done.
And that's probably a beautiful thing being an independent artist is that I'm free to do that.
I'm going to ask you about that independence a little bit further down the line.
