Inside Edition for Thursday Oct 08, 2026

Hello, and thanks for joining us.

We begin with the baseball fan under siege.

He reached over and caught what could have been a game-tying home run for the Yankees, who ended up losing the game and getting knocked out of the playoffs.

Overnight, he has become the most hated man in New York.

Justin Finch has more, and wait till you hear what the fan does for a living.

It's not often that you get to be called the most hated man in New York.

If you have a brain, do not try to catch a home run.

And he's now the most hated man in New York.

Dominic Siliana is a lifelong Yankees fan who many are blaming for costing the team their crucial win or go home playoff game against the Tampa Bay Rays last night.

Here's what happened.

The Yankees were down two runs.

Anthony Volpe hits what appears to be a game-tying homer.

It's a home run.

The fan, who came in contact with the ball, is celebrating with his friends.

But wait a second, there's a problem.

We have spectator interference.

Uh-oh.

They rule fan interference.

The run is taken off the scoreboard.

Once again, the Yankees are behind by one run.

The Tampa Bay Rays are moving on.

And that's how the score would remain.

The Yankees swept in three games.

So did this fan cost the Yankees the game? He was booed big time as he left his seat, and he had to be surrounded by security as he walked out of Yankee Stadium.

Turns out that fan being so reviled today is an elementary school principal in New York on Long Island, and his name is destined to go down in Yankee history along with another fan who, 23 years ago, was blamed for another hometown baseball fiasco.
