Brian and Chris come back after a THRILL-ing weekend in racing. The dirt racing world shut down for the 56th World 100 and Grundy County held their Night of Thrills. Smashed cars, blowing things up…
Chris GoodakerHostThey started Thursday night at 10 p.m. with hot laps.
For those of you that didn't watch, I went to bed before Hot Laps, I think, started, but they did get the night in.
I believe it was somebody out there, I'm sure will correct me, but I want to say it was about 2 or 3 in the morning that they were wrapping things up out there for prelim night one just to turn around and do it all over again Friday night.
And Brandon Overton, who won one of the night one prelims, had set himself up for a good weekend.
dipped out to go back home for the birth of his baby.
Probably the correct choice,
Sure.
Yeah, right.
As much as we love racing, there is certainly a time where family or other things kind of take priority, and that was certainly one of them.
Justin Doody went back home as well for the birth of his child, and he's out there in Oregon now.
Um, so he had a much longer flight, but nonetheless, uh, you know, very, very crazy wild start to the, to the weekend.
Um, right after all the craziness from labor day.
Um, but yeah, so Friday as, uh, as, as we all know, it was nine 11, a lot of tributes going on around the, around the, uh, nation.
They, uh, they had, uh, I think it was Freddie Carpenter Jr.
One of them had a 9-11 tribute car that looked pretty cool, kind of like the Smoky and the Bandit, black and gold, and then a lot of 9-11 tribute stuff on there, which was really neat.
But Brandon Shepard and Hudson O'Neill won those two prelim nights, setting up all the heat races for Saturday, which I think eight of them.
My goodness.
Talk about a lot of racing.
And it was, I think, Official total is like 102 or 103 late models entered Thursday.
Sounds like on a restart, he broke his driveshaft, and he had over a 10-second lead on Nick Hoffman.
Nick Hoffman did a great job for about 30 laps there, reeling him in and knocked off about nine seconds of that 10-second lead.
