I actually went back and watched the first two Evil Deads, like the Sam Raimi originals.

No, we had two beers and then I actually accidentally sent a text to you that was meant to text to Andrew.

No, I watched the first two and I think the first three movies, like that original Samurai Mechouji, each one is actually quite different than the other.

But the first one's a really low-budget, gnarly horror movie that's not that funny.
Yeah.
Yeah.

and it's just kind of the ultimate like cabin in the woods horror movie and then the second one is very tongue in cheek and very goofy but still very violent and has moments that are genuinely look freaky and scary and then the third one is like a medieval adventure that's like a homage to like Ray Harryhausen yeah and I think since the Fede Alvarez one in 2013, they've now...

And weirdly, I think, because everyone's favourite movie in this franchise seems to be Evil Dead 2, which is the more tongue-in-cheek, goofy one.

And that one's a straight remake of the first one that's really scrungy and mean and nasty, but with a high budget and a bit more kind of like human drama, because isn't the whole thing that she's going through withdrawal and they can't tell if...

drugs is like so similar i guess in symptoms so it is it's an interesting kind of take on it i think

yeah they're like it's so hard they're like this is just the drugs talking i don't know like she's like being like choked by a tree like i don't think that's the drugs and i also we

this just happened after we read from the book like this is a different thing she's not stealing from your purse bitch I'm like yeah so it's different

but then there was the Lee Cronin one that came out like 10 years later which I think enough distance had passed that I was just happy to have another one of these movies and it's really really good and the gore is great and it is nasty like the 2013 one but there's a little bit more humour in it I remember feeling like it's a bit slightly more campy And I think this one is sort of continuing that where I think it's as bleak and as violent and as gory as a movie can be while still being a little bit fun.
