EPISODE 263 SPARTAN DEATH RACE WITH STEVEN JARVIS !!

Now, on this episode, we talk to Stephen Jarvis, who did the Death Race in June, and I meant to interview him way earlier than this, but I dropped the ball on that.

But just a little bit of info right before the interview, and if you're not going to Killington, just skip by this until you hear Steve's voice.

Um, and this, this won't be long.

Uh, I was hoping the map may be out so I could give a little more info on the race, but, um, they did release the race day program and something interesting, and you find the race day program, you go to the Spartan website, you scroll down, and you will see a tab that says Race Day Program or, you know, Documents, and you click on that.

And it's not always there.

You usually have to wait like a week before or two weeks before, before they actually show a link for the race day program.

You click on it and it takes you there.

But you can find some cool details about an Ultra when you go there.

One, you can find out how many aid stations are there and you can find out, um, if you have to do the Ultra Loop once or twice.

In Killington, we only do the Ultra Loop on the first lap and we've been doing it that way since 2018, I know for sure.

And so this year's the same way.

But, uh, one way you can tell it is because, uh, shoot, let me pull up the, uh, my Instagram post, and a lot of y'all have probably already read this info too, on my Instagram page.

But so yeah, for aid stations, loop one it says 16 aid stations.

Loop two it says 13 aid station.

So that right there tells you that, okay, the first loop, the first lap is going to be longer.

So that lets you know that on the first lap you're going to do the Ultra Loop and that's why it's longer.

That's why there's more aid stations on the first loop than there is on the second loop.

Also, you can also, if the map is out, if you see, um, like, if you see like in Fayetteville, you typically will see this.

You'll see like mile 20 and it'll be in purple on the purple section.

So that lets you know that you're gonna do the Ultra Loop twice if you look at the map and you can see that.

Or if your aid station num- count is the same for both laps.

See what I'm saying? But anyway, something very cool this year is your first cutoff for transition is 3:00.

Last year it was 2:30, and I want to say a few years back it was 2:00.

So they've gotten a little more lenient with the transition cutoff.
