The Good Life | Abi McIlrath | HTB Livestream

He said that it was good.

Land, good.

Light, good.

Living creatures, good.

But he wasn't giving it like a mark out of 10.

It wasn't like an adjective or describing a particular like behavior.

He called it good because it was.

Everything was rightly and fully functioning as designed.

In creation, the spirit is at work doing one thing, producing life, the good life.

And so today, how can you and I, how can we live the good life? I think in our passage, we see three opportunities, three ways in which we can live life as God intended.

And so we're going to read from Genesis chapter one.

It's going to come up on the screen behind me, but I'll also read it for us.

Genesis one.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Now the earth was formless and empty.

Darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, let there be light.

And there was light.

And then we're going to jump to chapter 2, verse 7.

It says this.

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.

The man became a living being.

The good life begins with God's presence, the spirit with us.

This week, my husband was away with work and so I was alone in our house and I just, I don't know if anyone else is still scared of the dark.

I really thought I would grow out of it, but this week was a test and I just felt like that moment before you like turn the lights off and you're like, oh, like in my bedroom alone.
