In a world that equates busyness with importance and crowds with success, we read in Mark 1:35-39 that Jesus does something revolutionary.

So, so for context, in, in the first chapter of Mark, Jesus has had an amazing day.

He's been teaching in the synagogues, and it says that people are stunned because they've never heard anyone teach with such authority.

In a few verses earlier, it says that, um, He confronts a man who's described as being demon-possessed, and He casts out the demon.

It says He even went to, to Peter's house, where his mother-in-law was sick with a fever, and He healed her there on the spot.

The entire city is at the door longing to meet with Jesus, to encounter His power.

We could say that to the public, to everybody looking in, Jesus is at the height of His ministerial success.

It says here in Mark 1, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed." Jesus chose discipline of prayer when there was so much more for Him to be doing.

Jesus deliberately removes Himself from everything that is demanding His attention.

He didn't allow the urgency of His to-do list to dictate to Him His priorities.

He prayed because despite having everything else to do, He knew what His priority was.

It is the conscious choice for us to prioritize time with God over the endless demands of our busy life.
