Holy Trinity Brompton

That is really interesting.

There was a Holy Trinity Brompton, which is the church in West London that came out of the Alpha Course.

They run this massive leadership conference in Royal Apple Bowl every year.

I'm not a massive fan, it's a more charismatic theology than I particularly take with, but I got a ticket to this thing and went along.

Like, who is this Jesus person? What does he offer? What does he ask? What does it mean to follow him? I'm thinking, again, an example of a ministry like this that often crosses denominational nines is Alpha.

Alpha began in London, Holy Trinity in Brompton, in an Anglican context, but it is used in an evangelical context, it's used in a Catholic context, all across.

And it's just this basic, for those who aren't familiar with it, it's this reintroduction to the core gospel message and the person of Christ, eventually the person of the Holy Spirit, and it changes lives.

So every parish, every little local church, every faith community needs to have an answer to the question, how do we make disciples? Where do we proclaim the gospel? Where do we answer people's difficult questions and give them an opportunity to make a decision?

Um, uh, various other people were kind enough to say, and that didn't work out either.

And I was still without anywhere to go when I got a letter from the Bishop of Kensington saying would I go back to Holy Trinity Brompton and serve my curacy there.

So it's one of the reasons I think that I, [laughs] I, I, I might be regarded with some s- suspicion for some, because I'd only ever been at Holy Trinity once.

You need to go to church.

he just googled where the nearest church was it was st paul's hammersmith across the road he walked across the road hoping he'd get to church and there'd be nobody there but of course he met god there he met the holy spirit he he met god and he gave his life to christ as part of their church but there was another lady called sarah jackson talking on this video And she's from HTB in London, who the Alpha Course comes from HTB originally.

And she was just talking about a prayer meeting she was at recently, which was filled with young people under 25s.

And they were just, she said, just... interceding for the nation, just weeping.

The truth of the Word of God.

I had the amazing privilege of working with Nicky Gumbel He was the leader of HDB and founded Alpha.

And he'd say this, he said, I always wake up hungry, but I'd always start my day by feeding on the Word of God, reading the Word of God.

I realised I desperately needed to hear God's voice in my life.

Do you see the so-called born-again Christians in Anglican churches? You see St.

Andrews' Charlie Wood or Holy Trinity Brompton up in arms saying we're leaving? No, no.

What happened in America with the Southern Baptists? We have to be the number one spokesman for homosexual and lesbian rights, said J.D.

Greer, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

This set a major legal precedent in Britain at the time that you have the right to take a little baby, two men or two women, force a religious, a Catholic or a Protestant orphanage to give the child over by law to homosexuals and take that little baby and bring it up to be a lesbian or a homosexual.

And at Holy Trinity Brompton, and at the Kensington Temple Elam, and St. Andrew's Charlie Wood, they were on the floor laughing.
