Lord, where have you positioned me? | Jamie Sewell | HTB Livestream

Luke 4, 16 to 21, says this, talking about Jesus, it says, he went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up.

And on the Sabbath day, he went into the synagogue, as was his custom.

He stood up and read.

And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him.

Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written.

The spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.

The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.

He began by saying to them, today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

When Jesus stands up in the synagogue and reads Isaiah 61, he isn't simply telling people what he's about to do, but he is revealing, he is declaring what the kingdom of God looks like.

He's sharing his mission.

And this is really, really important for us to know because if we are followers of Christ, and I presume most of you are, and if you aren't, I would really encourage you to think about it today.

If we are followers of Christ, then his mission is also our mission.

See, God doesn't just save people.

But he positions saved people to play a part in him saving people.

I'll repeat that one more time.

God doesn't just save people.

But he positions saved people, that's you, to play a part in him saving people.

So the question this morning should not be, am I called? The question on our heart should be, Lord, where have you positioned me? I want to look at three things today.
