We've got tremendous amount of human complexity, uh, in the story.

Um, but then it begs the question, uh, of why it's in the Bible because it's such a grim story.

And then, you know, then, then, then think about a person who's at the heart of God's covenant, um, who's embodying Israel's exodus and Israel's exile, whose suffering seems to be required if Israel was to live.

Stop me if this is sounding familiar.

A person whose suffering is enhanced and even brought about by the flaws in the chosen people, a person who is cast out, who feels forsaken by her God, her God, uh, and why, why that God has forsaken her.

Despised, rejected, acquainted with grief.

Any of this sound like you've been there before?

Hmm.

And this is why this is in the Bible.
